Science, Technology and Mathematics Division

The Division of Science, Technology and Mathematics at the American University of Afghanistan, AUAF is characterized by excellent teaching, research productivity, diversity and interdisciplinary connections.

The division offers a Bachelor Degree in Information Technology to students with a Major in the discipline with the following concentrations: Artificial Intelligence, Cyber Security, Data Science and Software Engineering. The division also offers Minor in Data Science, Minor in Electrical Engineering and Renewable Energy and Minor in Mathematics. Courses are offered in Information Technology, Science and Mathematics (including non-credit courses to strengthen basic and developmental Mathematics skills). The division provides general education courses to all AUAF students majoring other disciplines. The Division is also in charge of the preparation and running of Mathematics and Information Technology Placement Tests, and it is responsible for six state-of-the-art laboratories in Computer Science, Physics, Chemistry and Biology, which are used for teaching and for students practice. An integrated part of the STM Division is also the Math Tutoring Center that seeks to increase the student’s ability to understand and apply mathematical principles and knowledge, acquire better study skills, become more independent in learning, and excel in math classes.

The division has 10 dedicated and highly qualified full-time and 9 adjunct faculty members. It serves the best interests of AUAF and the higher education of Afghanistan.
