Business Administration Programs 

The Business Department of the American University of Afghanistan currently offers two programs, the Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) and the Masters of Business Administration (MBA).  More information on the programs is available in the academics sections.

The curricula are anchored to global best practices and are taught by a diverse body of faculty with a rich international background. 

To be recognized by students and employers in the region as the preeminent undergraduate and graduate business programs in Afghanistan.

We are committed to providing international-caliber business education programs that develop professionals who drive ethical social and economic development of organizations in Afghanistan and globally.

The objectives, curriculum, and teaching methodologies of the department are designed to provide students with 1) a solid foundation in appropriate areas of knowledge at the level of international best practices; 2) an in-depth introduction in one discipline (accounting, finance, marketing or management); 3) an understanding of professionalism and its practices; 4) excellent presentation and business writing skills; 5) outstanding critical thinking skills; and 6) an understanding of business ethics in the international community.

    From 2016-2019, Dr O'Neill was an Associate Professor of Strategic Leadership and Director of the Masters of Strategic Leadership program at Mount Mercy University (USA). Previously (2001–2016), she was an undergraduate and graduate faculty member with the College of Business at Zayed University (United Arab Emirates) as well as a graduate faculty member in the College of Communication and Media. Dr O'Neill also directed the Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA) and Master of Management in International Business (MMIB) programs at Zayed University. Dr O’Neill has been an educator and education advisor with the Japanese Ministry of Education (MONBUSHO), the University of Alaska, and the United States Peace Corps.

    Dr O’Neill is also a government and industry consultant. She creates innovative solutions for complex environments on issues related to leadership, changes management, organization development, communication, employee engagement, and cross-cultural/inter-cultural workplace relations and team development.

    Dr O’Neill teaches Management, Leadership, Cross-cultural Management, Organizational Behavior, Strategic HRM, Strategy, Change Management, Strategic Thinking & Decision-making, and Internal Communication.

    She has worked in Japan, Qatar, Guatemala, Argentina, the United States, Jamaica, and the Central Pacific nation of Kiribati.
