On April 11th and 12th, the Student Government Association in collaboration with the Office of Student Affairs held two days event to celebrate Nawroz - Persian New Year. On the first day, the event began with a welcome speech, then the Celebration of Nawruz in Afghanistan was compared with other countries. Afterwards, students read beautiful Shahnaama which is a long epic poem written by the well-known Persian Poet Ferdoawsi. The event ended with distribution of Hafth Mewa - a local dessert dish made of seven fruits: pistachio, walnuts, raisins, dried apricots, almonds, prunes and senjid (the dried fruit of the oleaster tree).
On the second day of Nawroz Festival, the event began with kite running where males and females enjoyed the beautiful spring weather and the sunny day as well as other fun activities. Moreover, students represented different cultural dances in the green area of the university. Students were very happy and thank the SGA and the Office of Student Affairs for organizing and supporting such a great Festival.
