2017 Maqsudi Social Entrepreneurship Award

The Maqsudi Social Entrepreneurship Competition challenges AUAF-MBA students to use rigorous business principles to create sustainable, positive solutions to some of Afghanistan’s most challenging problems—poverty, health, education, hunger, environmental degradation and development.

This $10000 award is generously given by Mr. Maqsudi, to be presented annually winning MBA students who have developed an outstanding Business plan supporting a new social entrepreneurship venture and exhibited exceptional original graduate level work at AUAF’s MBA program.

The winner of 2017 Maqsudi Award is Mr. Rahmatullah Hamraz who is a hardworking and talented person with high level achievements. He has work experience with many national and international organizations and currently serves as Senior Monitoring and Evaluation Officer with the Ministry of Finance. The American University of Afghanistan (AUAF) awarded him the Maqsudi Social Entrepreneurship Award of USD 10,000 for developing the best business plan for employment creation, peace-building and women’s economic empowerment.  Mr. Hamraz holds a master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) from the American University of Afghanistan (AUAF), and a bachelor’s degree BA (economics, mathematics, statistics) from Panjab University, India.

Rahmatullah’s business plan focuses on unemployment and poverty in Jaghatu district of Wardak province and shortage of local organic eggs in Kabul Markets. This is a business plan for a social venture which will help in employment creation, poverty eradication, peace-building and economic empowerment in his home-town, Jaghato District of Wardak Province and will address the problem of shortage of local organic eggs in Kabul Markets.
