AUAF Alumna Receives French Scholarship
Tayyaba Rafat, holding a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the American University of Afghanistan (AUAF), Class of 2014, is the first AUAF alumna to receive the French Government Scholarship for Afghanistan. Through this scholarship, she will pursue her Masters in Finance in France. “Thanks to the French Embassy in Kabul, and His Excellency the French Ambassador to Afghanistan, Mr. François Richier, for supporting young Afghan students, especially girls like me, to pursue their Masters and Ph.D.'s in France” Said, Miss. Rafat.
While studying her bachelor’s degree, Miss. Rafat was also working at the Finance Department of the University where she was putting the theories she learned in classes to practice. “Thanks to AUAF for providing us the opportunity to get world class higher education inside our country” stated, Miss. Rafat. AUAF not only provided her with higher education, but also the opportunity to work in the University as well as to travel and work for Cummins Middle East, a Dubai-UAE, based leading international organization, in June 2014 where she could expand her professional expertise.
Miss. Rafat will depart to her new graduate studies school in France very soon. She is determined to return to Afghanistan upon the completion of her studies and contribute back to her war-torn country. “After completing my Master degree, I will return to my country. I understand the needs of my country and what is missing here, and I hope that I will be able to contribute towards filling those gaps through the new knowledge and expertise I will acquire in France” expressed, Miss. Rafat.
The French Government Scholarship Program runs every year and is announced in their official website the "French Government Scholarship". It usually takes ten months to complete the process of the scholarship. Agriculture, Economics, Health, Law, Environment, and Archaeology are the preferred fields of study for this scholarship program for Afghanistan.
