Students from Different Universities Gathered for a Discussion on Victim-Centered Peace


On 8th of March, AUAF Peace and Transitional Justice club with coordination of the US-Afghan Alumni Network held first of a series of symposia with the overarching theme of a Victim-Centered Peace.

The Student Peace Dialogue hosted students from private and public universities of Kabul to discuss  two specific sub-themes:

1) How to ensure that the involvement of women goes beyond a symbolic or tokenistic level, in both the peace process as well as in a post-peace settlement political order.

2) What pathways for resistance exist for women to use, and, what pathways must women carve out from existing social and political structures.

The students broke into smaller groups to discuss different topics relating to victim-centered peace.Student centered discussions were followed by a panel with by Ms. Foozia Koofi, Ms. Roya Mahboob, Ms. Shaharzad Akber, Dr. Victoria Fonton and Ms. Muska Dastgeer which focused s on women’s participation in the peace process and post-peace settlement.
